What does Ø mean? And why so many musicians use it for style.

I can see four reasons for this :

  1. Ø (as well as Å or Æ) looks so freezingly Scandinavian that your random .mp3 instantly looses at least 10 degrees C° and feels lonelier and fancier.
  2. Ø means island. Yep. Lonely and fjordy again.
  3. Ø also means zero which leads us to subzero sublime æsthetic.
  4. Ø = half diminished chord. Gloomy and melancholic.
